Do I Need COVID-19 Booster Vaccination To Enter Bali?

There are a lot of rumours circulating that as of 18th July 2022 it is necessary to have received a booster of the COVID-19 vaccination. These rumours are not correct.

You can read the current regulations here in Indonesian or here in unofficial English translation. These state that it is still only necessary to have received your second vaccination at least 14 days prior to travel. The Indonesian government has not updated their policy on what counts as fully vaccinated so it is still two shots of Moderna or Astrazenica or one shot of the single dose vaccines such as Johnson & Johnson.

INDONESIA QUARANTINE REDUCED TO 5 DAYS

New regulation released Tuesday 1st February 2022 has reduced mandatory quarantine to 5 days. You can read the regulation here.

In other regulations, the Government of Indonesia has decided to lift restrictions on the entry of foreign tourists to Bali and the Riau Islands. Previously, only 19 countries could be granted a Visit Visa with the purpose of tourism to visit Bali and Riau Islands. Travellers from other countries needed to have the B211 visa with a different reason for travel.

The Sub-Coordinator of Public Relations of the Directorate General of Immigration, Achmad Nur Saleh, emphasized that immigration provisions for tourist visits to Bali and Riau Islands require foreigners to have a visit visa.

“Tourism in Bali and Riau Islands has been opened to all foreign tourists. Foreign travellers must apply for a B211A Tourist Visit Visa with a travel company guarantor, not an individual," he said.

In addition to being required to have a passport and visa, foreigners are required to have:

  • a complete dose of Covid-19 vaccination certificate

  • RT-PCR test results

  • proof of ownership of health insurance with an insured value of 25,000 USD

  • proof of accommodation payment confirmation while in Bali.

"It should also be remembered that they are also required to undergo quarantine according to the provisions of the Covid-19 Handling Task Force," said Achmad.

For the entry gate for foreign tourists, Achmad explained, according to the provisions of the Covid-19 Handling Task Force, only 2 (two) airports were allowed, namely Bali and the Riau Islands.

Process of arriving in Bali as a tourist in 2022 with the B211 visa

Once you arrive in Bali you will need to go to have your temperature checked and if it is above 37.5 degrees celsius you will need to take a PT-PCR test.

Next, you can pick up your baggage and proceed through customs.

Key Facts about the B211 Visa

The initial visa validity is 60 days.

You can then extend the visa 4 x for 30 days each time, so the maximum visa validity is 180 days (these days include the day you land and leave.)

Each extension needs to be applied for at least 4 business days before your visa validity expires and costs IDR 800k.

If you leave Indonesia before your visa is expired, your visa will be voided and you will have to get a new one if you wish to return to Indonesia.

Australia prepares to reopen borders

Great news from Australia - From November 1st 2021, Australia will start lifting its outbound travel ban for fully vaccinated residents thanks to the strong uptake of COVID-19 vaccines.

Sydney and Melbourne, Australia's biggest cities, are also preparing to welcome overseas travellers without quarantine. Unvaccinated travellers will still be allowed entry if they agree to undergo the two-week mandatory quarantine upon arrival.

However, Australia's states and territories have differing vaccination rates and health policies. Here are some indicated dates in Australia's path to reopening borders based on current vaccination rates:

Nov. 1

** New South Wales and Victoria - home to more than half of Australia's near 26 million population - will allow quarantine-free entry to all international travellers, although citizens and permanent residents will benefit first.

** All fully-vaccinated citizens and permanent residents can leave Australia without seeking a travel exemption.

Nov. 23

** South Australia to halve quarantine period for international travellers to seven days; quarantine to end when double-dose vaccination rate in the state's population above 12 reaches 90% but no firm date given.

** Northern Territory to allow two-week home quarantine for fully vaccinated domestic travellers from virus hotspots, rather than at supervised facilities.

Dec 1

** Unvaccinated residents in New South Wales, home to Sydney, to enjoy the same level of freedom as the vaccinated - no limits on outdoor and home gatherings, while more customers will be allowed in retail stores.

Dec. 15

** Tasmania to open borders for fully vaccinated overseas travellers and residents from other states who must provide a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours prior to travel.

Dec. 17

Queensland to allow quarantine-free entry to vaccinated residents from all states, but international arrivals may have to undergo "a period of home quarantine".

Dec. 20

Northern Territory to halve home quarantine to a week with officials planning to end quarantine by Jan. 18, 2022.

*** Western Australia, the only state without a reopening plan yet, has warned it could close its borders to other states if they allow quarantine-free entry for residents from virus-hit New South Wales and Victoria.

Airlines have said they're not ready for the ramping up of services this reopening will require. However Australian carrier Qantas responded by announcing it would restart international flights to major overseas destinations a month earlier than their planned date of 18th December.

Although travel is not immediately open to foreigners, the government said it was working "towards welcoming tourists back to our shores".

Mr Morrison said Australia's mandatory 14-day hotel quarantine - which costs each traveller A$3,000 (£1,600; $2,100) - would be replaced by seven days of home quarantine for vaccinated Australians or permanent residents. Unvaccinated travellers must still quarantine for 14 days in hotels.

Until this week, there has been a lack of clarity on what is required for children who are 12 years old and under to travel to Bali, Indonesia.

We are happy to inform you that as long as the child is travelling with their parent, they do not have to follow the same stringent rules to obtain the B211 offshore visa.

Children who are 12 years old and under are not required to be vaccinated. They can instead have a letter from their doctor declaring them healthy and free from COVID-19 symptoms. We have an example of this letter available to our clients upon request.

October 2021 OFFSHORE VISA requirements update (1)

Good news for those of you who couldn't use your new visas to enter Indonesia during the PPKM lockdown.

As stated in the regulation update on 17th September 2021, those with a Kitas or B211 Visa that was issued between 22nd April 2021 and 18th July 2021 can still use it to enter Indonesia as long as you come before 15th October 2021.

This regulation has been announced because usually once issued, eVisas are valid for 90 days. This means you have 90 days to enter Indonesia from the date of issue of the visa. The PPKM lockdown prevented many foreigners who had obtained visas from entering Indonesia for much of their 90-day window. So these people now have just under a month to use their visas before they expire.

For the first extension, you will need to go to the immigration office to get fingerprinted and photographed. We have an agent at the office who will meet you and guide you through the process quickly.

After the first extension, all you will need to do is give us your passport and we will manage your future extensions for you.

You cannot work in Indonesia using this visa. If you would like to know more about living and working in Indonesia, do get in touch and we’ll talk you through the options.

At Visa Agency Bali we sometimes get asked why we ask for more documents for the B211 offshore visa application than some other agencies who only ask for a copy of your passport. Today we are going to explain why we do this.

Below is the list of documents we need, which are explained further in this blog post.

OFFSHORE indonesia B211 VISA - Regulation Updates Explained FAQs

We ask for these because each one is required by the immigration regulations and the visa application system. There is no way to submit the application without all of these documents.

The images below show the application page for both the B211 Offshore Visa and the A211 Onshore Social Visa.

We have marked the documents required for the B211 Offshore Visa application with the red dot. If these documents are not uploaded, it is not possible to click 'Done & Send' to submit the application.

We have heard of cases where people who are not our clients had problems using their visa. Some were not allowed to board the plane as they did not have an onwards ticket. Others were turned away by immigration in Jakarta because the information from their application did not match their situation.

We want to ensure all our clients arrive in Indonesia safely and without stress and hassle. We follow the regulations exactly to make sure our clients can travel with confidence and security.

Visa Agency Bali Clients – The Terms of Your Social & Business Visa Sponsorship

When we sponsor your visa, whether it is a social or business visa, we need you to accept the following statement of intention while in Indonesia:

  1. The Client declares that they will not engage in any political, propaganda, or intelligence seeking activities while using the visa.

  2. The Client declares that they will not be involved in drug trafficking or drug use while using this visa.

  3. The Client declares that they will not be involved in any other criminal activities while using this visa.

  4. The Client declares that they will not work for an Indonesian company or individual while using this visa.

  5. The Client declares that they will not receive income or direct payment of any kind in the country of Indonesia.

  6. The Client agrees to comply with the protocols of the Republic of Indonesia in order to combat COVID 19.

It is important to note that you need to be incredibly careful not to undertake any activities that could be perceived as working. This applies to what you are seen doing while in Indonesia, as well as what you post online and to social media. Even if, for example, you do a post promoting a local's business, someone could see it and think you are being paid, and get you investigated by immigration.

If you have any questions about your visa and what you can and cannot do, please email us on info@visaagencybali.com.
